  A: Start by taking off the upper intake manifold when servicing the engine coolant thermostat on a 2.0L/2.4L engine. After that, drain the cooling system starting just below the thermostat level. Take the upper radiator hose off the outlet connector and the hose from the coolant recovery system from its outlet connector as well. If your vehicle has a turbocharger, take out the fastener connecting the A/C suction line support bracket to the coolant outlet connector stud and unclip the bracket from the suction line, before changing its position. After that, get rid of the coolant outlet connector bolts and extract the thermostat assembly, making sure to clean where it comes into connection.
