2009 Chrysler Sebring Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint on 2009 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Support the car and place it on jack stands, then remove the wheel mounting nuts and assemble plus tire after that. While a helper uses the brakes, remove the hub nut from the axis half shaft. After that, disconnect and remove the front brake rotor. Take out the screw that holds the wheel speed sensor head to the knuckle, detach the clip securing the cable to the knuckle, remove the sensor head and then pull it out. Remove the nut that holds the lower ball joint to the lower control arm, then use Remover, Special Tool 9360 to remove the ball joint without taking the knuckle out at this point. Gently lift the knuckle away from the lower control arm so that the half shaft keeps the C/V joint together inside the suspension. Lift the knuckle off and down the axle half shaft outer C/V joint splines as you support the half shaft. With the drift punch, hit the ends of the snap-ring inside the knuckle and lift it off the ball joint. Place Remover, Special Tool 9964-3 and Remover, Special Tool 9964-4 on Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8441-1, over the ball joint and screw the tools in tight by hand. Lastly, tighten the ball joint with hand-tools, loosen them and take out the tools and the ball joint.
