2009 Dodge Avenger Battery Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install and Service Battery Cables on 2009 Dodge Avenger?
A: Set up the battery harness in the car and clip or pin it in place using the pushpins, fasteners and clips until it is back in its original location. Move the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) out of the mounting bracket and, with the TIPM facing down, insert the battery harness cable onto its stud. With the washer on the bolt, screw the retaining nut until it tightens to 10 Nm. Hook the glow plug module connector, the two cabin heater relay connectors and the in-line connector to the instrument panel harness on diesel engine models. Line up the remote positive battery terminal to where the left strut tower is and push down until locked. Lift the cover off the positive battery terminal, fit the starter harness positive cable onto the remote positive battery post, screw in the nut and tighten it up to 16.5 Nm. Install the vehicle on a hoist, plug in the connector from the instrument panel harness, insert the battery and bring the car down. Put the cable that connects the remote battery onto the battery's remote post, then tighten the nut to 16.5 Nm. To work on the starter harness, always wear strong rubber gloves, safety glasses and remove any metallic jewelry. Remove the negative battery cable remote terminal from the remote battery post. Isolate and take away the battery harness negative cable from the connections. Set the starter harness in the vehicle and attach it with retaining pushpins, fasteners and routing clips. Bind the negative cable of the starter harness to the battery post on the remote starter and secure the retaining nut to 16.5 Nm. Open the cover on the positive battery side of the remote, attach the starter harness positive cable to the remote terminal and tighten its retaining nut. Lift the vehicle, join the starter harness positive cable to the starter's positive battery terminal and tighten the holding screw to 13 Nm. Fit the side of the starter harness negative cable to the engine block, then use a wrench to tighten the retaining bolt to 16.5 Nm. Lower the car and join the negative battery cable remote terminal to the remote battery post, tighten the nut to 16.5 Nm.
