2009 Dodge Avenger Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Service an Instrument Cluster from the Dashboard on 2009 Dodge Avenger?
    A: Before you can take out the instrument panel, first isolate and detach the battery negative remote cable. Then, detach the driver and passenger seats, after which remove the center bezel and center console. If the car comes with an amplifier, unplug it first and then open both lower closeout panels in the doors. After that, remove the cowl panel, the cover to the steering column and the knee bolster panel. With trim stick C-4755, get rid of both the left and right defroster outlets and the central ones. Separate the wiring harness from the instrument panel, remove the cable connections from the amplifiers and unplug all wires connecting the antenna. Get rid of the cluster bezel and instrument panel cluster, together with all its bolts and connectors. Pry on the grille opening with a trim stick or other matching finger tool and pull out the speakers from the instrument panel. After that, gently lift the bezel, take apart all the necessary wires and unclip everything necessary to remove both the radio bezel and the radio itself. Lift out the covers on the left and right ends and the A-pillar trim that's attached to the right from the inside of the vehicle. Gain entry into the glove box, hold and squeeze in with your fingers on its sides and release downward to drop the glove box dampener, then pull to disconnect the hinges and take out the glove box from the instrument panel. Pull aside the glove box and reach in to detach the air bag squib connectors. Remove the bolt from the left center panel instrument support and one bolt from the left side support strut to the bulkhead. Take the starters off, then pull the harness from the steering column. Remove the pinch bolt on the steering column and remove the column from inside the vehicle. Take out the shift interlock and wire plug and pull off the panel cover before the instrument pad. Once you've loosened all the fasteners, use an assistant to lift and pull the instrument panel backwards to remove it. While swapping the instrument panel, keep any good parts and all the wiring harness on the new instrument panel.
