How to Safely Remove a Catalytic Converter on 2009 Dodge Dakota?

Before taking out the catalytic converter, raise the car so you have easy access. Apply Mopar(R) Rust Penetrant to each exhaust bolt and nut and give it 5 minutes to work. Unplug the plug that goes to the oxygen sensor to keep the harness and the sensor safe. After that, take out the bolts securing the catalytic converter to the manifold and to the exhaust pipe. Whenever there are tack welds present, you should grind them before removing the catalytic converter which might mean loosening secondary parts of the exhaust system.
