2009 Dodge Dakota Muffler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install a Muffler on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: Make sure you know that the band clamps are not for reuse and must be replaced once removed. Opening the muffler and fitting the alignment tang properly in the alignment slot within the catalytic converter (1). Now, attach a new exhaust clamp (4) temporarily and afterwards, fit the muffler isolators. Following that, install the tail pipe and put the muffler and exhaust pipe in their proper alignment, tightening all the exhaust clamp nuts to 45 ft. lbs (61 Nm). Once the exhaust is installed, look to see if it comes into contact with any body panels. Be sure there are at least 25 mm (1.0 in.) of space between the exhaust parts and anything on the car, adjusting where necessary. After finishing all the other work, drive the vehicle down, start it and check for leaks around the exhaust; perform repairs, if needed.
