2009 Dodge Dakota Cigarette Lighter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Cigarette Lighter Power Outlet on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should begin by cutting off and setting aside the cable that is connected to the negative terminal of the battery to service the cigarette lighter. Lose the cigarette lighter knob and element from the base of the cigarette lighter or lift or remove the protective cap from the cigarette lighter receptacle base. Check the underside of the receptacle base in order to find the location of the rectangular holding-down bosses that hold it to the panel. Place a set of external snap ring pliers over the mount and press their tips down into the retaining bosses. Use the pliers to break the mount bosses free from the base and carefully rock the pliers as you pull out the base from the mount. Withdraw the base of the receptacle from the instrument panel, then remove the connector from the cigarette lighter base. Lastly, take off the cigarette lighter from the center of the dashboard.
