How to Service the Fuel Pump and Gauge Sender on 2009 Dodge Dakota?

Before servicing the fuel gauge sender, unpressurize the fuel system, as it still holds pressure anytime the engine is off. Start by taking out and emptying the fuel tank. Use the indexing arrow on top of the fuel pump module to check how it has rotated, before removing it. Fit the Position Lockring Remover/Installer 9340 into the outsides ridges of the lockring. Attach a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar to Lockring Remover/Installer 9340 and turn the bar clockwise to take out the lockring. After taking away the lockring, the module will come up a bit, so you can remove it safely from the fuel tank without bending the float arm.
