2009 Dodge Durango Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Timing Cover on 2009 Dodge Durango?
A: Before you take off the engine timing cover, disconnect the battery negative cable and drain the cooling system. Then, separate the electric cooling fan and fan shroud assembly and next remove the radiator fan. At the timing cover, unplug the heater hoses and at the engine, unplug the lower radiator hose. Get rid of the accessory drive belt tensioner and afterwards, remove the crankshaft damper. Take out the generator and the A/C compressor at this stage. Anaerobic sealant is used in the front cover to seal the engine block. When servicing, use Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV sealant instead of a gasket. There's no need to pull the water pump when taking off the timing cover. After that, take off the bolts securing the timing cover to the engine block and remove the cover.
