2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Air Bag Control Module on 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan?
    A: To begin working on the Occupant Restraint Controller (Orc), remove the battery's negative cable, isolating it and wait for two minutes to clear the Supplemental Restraint System (Srs). Don't strike or allow the Orc to drop, since it could hurt the impact sensor and you may need to replace the module. Every Orc component comes modeled to be "Locked Out," but connects to the Scan Tool, go to Miscellaneous and use Module Initialization to unlock the component and clear any fault codes. Should that be necessary, take out the Electronic Stability Program (Esp) dynamics sensor from the right side of the Orc mounting bracket welded to the floor panel transmission tunnel. Unplug the instrument panel wire harness connector and the body wire harness connector from the Orc connector receptacles by pushing down the release tab and lifting up the lever arm on each one, in order of the 36 pin connector followed by the 72 pin connector. In the end, remove the three screws securing the Orc to the bracket, lift it from the right side of the transmission tunnel and it will disengage from the pins on the bracket.
