2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Clock Spring Assembly on 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: To set up the Clock Spring assembly, disable the SRS by separating the battery negative cable, isolating it and waiting two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. Make sure the front wheels face forward before getting moving. Fix and join the multi-function switch and, if you have them, the adjustable pedal switches onto the Clock Spring mounting bracket. Take care to slide the centered Clock Spring over the upper portion of the steering column. Attach the ends of the instrument panel wire harness to the multi-function switch, adjustable pedal switch, Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) and the Clock Spring. Tighten the two captive screws that fix the back of the Clock Spring to the column and afterward install and tighten one additional screw located below that secures the face of the Clock Spring to the column. Instal the shrouds over the steering wheel column once more. When placing the steering wheel, make sure the engagement dowel/drive pin on the rotor points into the slot of the wheel armature hub. Reattach the steering wheel onto the steering column. When the new Clock Spring is inserted, take out the special pin holding the rotor together in order to center it; for reinstallation of the old Clock Spring, remove any alignment tool you have used. Put the wire harness from the steering wheel back into the connector on the upper Clock Spring receptacle. Put the air bag driver onto the steering wheel line and link the battery negative cable again.
