2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Timing Cover on 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: You must remove the distributor cap and drain the car before working on the engine cover. Park the vehicle on a hoist and pour out all of the engine oil. Undo the lug nuts and free the right front tire, then take off the front inner splash shield. Then, take out both the oil pan and the oil pick-up tube. After you have taken off the accessory drive belt, take out one bolt and loose three nuts so you can reposition the A/C compressor. On cars that have an engine oil cooler, take off the crankshaft vibration damper and the heater return hose from the timing chain cover housing or water pump inlet tube. Lift out the lower radiator hose and remove the camshaft sensor from the cover. Separate the right engine mount from its side attachment and take out the bolt from the power steering line support. Unscrew two bolts, a nut and a bracket and then another bolt, nut and bracket. Before starting to reposition the power steering pump, take off the generator by loosening its bolts and afterward, disconnect three bolts through the pump pulley so you can reposition the pump. Take out the bolt and the accessory drive belt tensioner, then the bolt and the accessory drive belt idler pulley as well. When everything is lined up, take the water pump out and remove screws securing the cover to remove the timing chain cover.
