2009 Dodge Nitro Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install the Alternator on a 3.7L Engine on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: When installing the generator on the 3.7L engine, place it on the engine and hold it with three securing bolts. Tighten the level bolts to 57 Nm and the round bolt to 40 Nm. Secure the field wire connector to the far end of the generator and then place the B+ terminal and nut on the generator stud, tightening it to 13 Nm. Put the blue protective cover over the B+ terminal. Using a screwdriver to push a belt onto a pulley rim can ruin the belt's synthetic fiber. Securing the serpentine accessory drive belt properly is necessary, as rotation in the reverse direction can cause the water pump to circulate warm water to the engine and trigger overheating; use the label in the engine compartment to direct the belt properly. After that, put on the drive belt and link the negative battery cable back to the battery.
