How to Service and Repair an Axle Shaft on 2009 Dodge Nitro?

It is important to park the vehicle in neutral and use a hoist before beginning an axle shaft service or repair. Take out the wheel speed sensor and the rear brake components at the beginning. Remove the cover of the differential next and empty the inside. Spin the differential case to get to the pinion mate shaft lock screw and then remove it from the differential case. From here, pull the pinion mate shaft from the differential case. Add power by pressing the axle shaft inward to lift the axle shaft C-lock and finally remove the axle shaft from the side gear and axle tube.
