2009 Dodge Nitro Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: Make sure to release the fuel system pressure before servicing a 3.7L car's fuel rail, as the pressure continues when the engine is not on. The whole set of left and right fuel rails need to be replaced together; never try to separate the rail halves at the tube (10) and don't use any clamping tool on the tube. The first step is to take off the fuel tank filler tube cap and next disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, eliminate the air duct and air box at the throttle body and remove the fuel line using the specific tool. Release or remove any standard vacuum or vapor fitting close to the throat assembly and then remove the electrical connector from every fuel injector by pressing the red slider and depressing the release tab. Separate the connectors at the throttle body sensors and remove the six ignition coils. After that point, take out the four bolts attaching the fuel rail. Hold the fuel rail steady and pull down a little on the left side injector which will help it clear the holes in the cylinder head and repeat this for the right side until all injectors are free. Finally, take out the fuel rail and injectors from the engine and if any of the fuel injectors needs removal, use the proper steps.
