How to Service and Repair a Trunk Lid Latch on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?

The first step to servicing or repairing the trunk or liftgate latch is to take off the tailgate cover. Once that is complete, mark the actuator rod at the spot for the control of the latch that needs assistance. Take the actuator rod off the control before removing the two bolts that hold the latch to the tailgate and move the tailgate check cable out of the way. The last step is to take out the latch on the tailgate.
