2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Extract the Crankshaft from an Engine on 2009 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Take out the engine before continuing to remove the crankshaft. After that, install Crankshaft Insert 8513A and use Puller 1023 to remove the vibration damper. Following that, remove the rear oil seal retainer and then the oil pan. Uninstall both the oil pump pickup and the gasket underneath the windage tray/oil pan. After that, remove both the timing chain cover and the oil pump. Get rid of the timing chain and sprockets. Remove the caps marked as rod bearings and lift out the old bearings too. Likewise, figure out which bearing caps are the main ones before unbolting them and take out both the bearing caps and the bearings without removing all of them together. As the last step, take the thrust washers out and lift the crankshaft from its position in the block.
