The first part of the process is to pick the correct main bearings and attach them inside the block. Following that, insert the main bearing shells into the bearing caps, then oil them with clean oil. Install the crankshaft into the cylinder block and apply oil to and install the thrust bearings. Properly oil and clean the cap bolts, before placing the main bearing caps in place, so the arrow is facing ahead. Tighten the main bearing cap bolts to 13 Nm as advised and after that increase the tightness to 27 Nm and rotate them an extra 90°. Place the new crossbolts onto the motor first, using bolts A and then tighten each crossbolt to 28 Nm. Measuring the crankshaft end play is next, before setting the connecting rods onto the crankshaft and attaching the rod bearing caps. Place the
Timing Chain and sprockets first and next install the
Timing Chain Tensioner and guide. Set the oil pump in place, bolt the timing chain case cover in place, install the rear main seal as well as the retainer and add the windage tray/
Oil Pan gasket. Make sure all the oil pick-up tube O-rings are intact and fix any that need replacement. After that, set the oil pick-up tube into place and tighten its fasteners to 28 Nm. For the last stage, mount the oil pan, vibration damper and set the engine in place.
