2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Rack And Pinion Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Rack and Pinion on 2009 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: To service or repair the rack and pinion on 2500 and 3500 models, make certain the front wheels are aligned straight forward. Cars with automatic transmission often have no locking shaft for the ignition, so you need to use alternative ways to block the steering wheel. Secure the steering wheel and empty the power steering fluid you can. Cut off and cap the fluid hoses that go to the rack and pinion. After removing the pinch bolt at the rack and pinion, slide the shaft away from the unit. Indicate on both the pitman shaft and arm where they should be installed and unscrew the pitman arm from the shaft with tool 9615. In the end, remove the three bolts holding the rack and pinion in place and then remove it from the vehicle.
