It is important to look at the bushings before you download the rack and pinion and take care of any that seem worn or damaged. For the frame, two holes are made to support the rack and pinion; first tighten the bolt found in the round hole to keep the rack and pinion from moving. Attach the front rack onto the front crossmember, then tighten the bolts (2) to a torque of 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Thread the shaft coupler on the cover of the rack and pinion, insert a new pinch bolt and turn the bolt 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.) tight. Dry and clean the
Tie Rod End studs and clear the knuckle tapers. Then, push on the tie rod ends to the
Steering Knuckles and tighten the nuts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) plus an added 90°. Link the pressure
Power Steering Hose to the rack and pinion and tighten it to 32 Nm (23 ft. lbs.), then tighten the return power steering hose to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Install the front skid plate and place the tire and wheel combination on next. With the support on the ground, remove the stand and lower the vehicle. Place fluid in the ankle and move the toe depending on your needs.
