2009 Jeep Commander Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove an Oil Pan on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Remove the negative battery cable before you try to remove the engine oil pan. After that, take out the radiator fan and the intake manifold. For now, avoid installing Special Tool 8534B, because you must remove the engine first. After that, take off all the structural cover in the correct order. Leave the sides of the engine mounts with the bolts in, then unscrew the nuts and bolts (3) supporting the engine mounts under the car. Support the engine with Engine Support 8534B so the top of the oil pan will be easier to reach. Be careful not to force the oil pan or oil pan gasket when you remove the filter, since the gasket joins the engine and will stay with it. Once all that is done, remove the oil pan mounting bolts, the oil pan and detach the oil pump pickup tube, with both the tube and oil pan gasket coming out of the engine as well.
