2009 Jeep Commander Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: You should start by wiping the timing chain cover and block surface clean with rubbing alcohol, as it's safe for them. The 3.7L engine uses Mopar(R) Engine RTV in place of the factory anaerobic sealer for the gasket. Help check whether the water passage o-rings are broken and replace them if needed. Use a thin layer of Mopar(R) Engine RTV sealer around the front cover, drop the cover into place and tighten the fasteners in the right order to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.). Afterward, install the crankshaft damper, A/C compressor, generator and belt tensioner for the accessories. After that, place the radiator upper and lower hoses, both heater hoses and the radiator fan. Then, add water or fluid to the cooling system and connect the battery's negative cable.
