2009 Jeep Compass A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an A/C Hose and Ensure Proper Refrigerant Oil Levels on 2009 Jeep Compass?
A: Before installing the A/C liquid line, correct the refrigerant oil level to protect the A/C compressor and change the A/C liquid line when there is a failure inside the A/C compressor. For installation of more than one A/C component, ensure you find out the required refrigerant oil amount using the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart. Each time you open a refrigerant line, replace the rubber O-ring seals and the metal gaskets to stop leaks. Place the assembly containing the A/C liquid and suction line into the region near the engine, peel off the tape and plugs from the refrigerant line fittings and holes in the evaporator and then wipe clean, dry refrigerant oil onto each rubber O-ring of the new seals and install them on their appropriate fittings. Screw the assembly onto the A/C evaporator and tighten the bolt here to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). For RHD models, fit the retainers onto the power brake booster vacuum supply hose. Secure the refrigerant line bracket to the strut tower on the right front side using a nut tightened to 4.5 Nm. After that, put the windshield washer reservoir, power steering fluid reservoir and engine coolant reservoir back in. Put the heat shield behind the dash panel and tighten its nuts to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). Lift and support the vehicle, clear tape or plugs from both the liquid line fitting and condenser port on the line, put new clean refrigerant oil onto a new rubber O-ring seal and fit the seal and new gasket on the fitting. Join the A/C liquid line to the A/C condenser and seal it with a retaining nut that you tighten to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.) Place the A/C accumulator in place, raise the vehicle and connect the vehicle's negative battery cable. Do not start the engine if the vacuum pump or vacuum is on in the A/C system to protect the compressor. Empty the refrigerant from the system, correct the refrigerant oil amount and add refrigerant as your vehicle requires.
