How to Safely Service Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2009 Jeep Compass?

To service the trunk or liftgate shock support, open and support the liftgate. Remove the support cylinder from the ball studs using a flat tool to remove the clips. Do not remove the cylinders with the liftgate closed so as not to injure or damage them. Do not take the support cylinders apart.
