2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace the Drive Belt on a 2.0/2.4L Engine on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before working on the serpentine belt, switch off the engine and check its tension. Ensure that, as you put the drive belt on the pulleys, all the grooves are lined up so there is proper contact. Slide the new belt into place and use an adjusting bolt to adjust the tension as the Belt Tension Chart instructs. With the tool, place the adapter on your scan tool, place the microphone at a center location of the belt about 2.54 cm (1 in.) away and pluck the belt a minimum of three times to observe the generated frequency (in Hz) on the screen. Use the tag on the belt and tighten it according to the frequency chart. Screw the pivot bolt and locking nut to a tightness of 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs. each). To install the drive belt on the power steering pump/air conditioning compressor, place the belt on all pulleys except the pump, use a wrench to rotate the tensioner clockwise to force the belt onto the pump pulley and tighten the spring with the pump pulley installed. After assembling, check the belt length indicator (2, 3 or 5) to make sure it falls near the center mark, the nominal belt length mark, between the length ranges you can see. After that, attach the belt splash shield to your engine.
