2010 Dodge Avenger Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Front Brake Caliper on 2010 Dodge Avenger?
A: To get rid of and fit a new front brake caliper, you should first clamp down the piston all the way with a C-clamp to ensure it doesn't damage the inside cylinder, then put a wood block across the piston to shield it from harm. Be sure to set up the caliper properly; the special sleeve must go in the upper of the two mounting holes. Put the upper and lower caliper guide pin bolts through the holes of each caliper and the adapter bracket, then align the holes and tighten them to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). After that, attach the brake flex hose to the brake caliper with a banjo bolt, inserting new washers at every end, then tighten the bolt to about 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Next, set the tire and wheel into place, securely tighten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), lower the car and take out the brake pedal holding tool. As required, use brake fluid to empty the calipers, test drive your car and make several stops to adjust the brake pad.
