2010 Dodge Avenger Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Parking Brake Cable on 2010 Dodge Avenger?
A: Begin by unhooking and removing the negative battery cable to deal with or mend the parking brake cable. Block the tire and wheel set after releasing the parking brake lever so the vehicle won't move. Take out the center console and pull down the parking brake lever. Badge with parking brake Off or if required may need to consult manual for model matching procedure. Lift up the rear seat cushion, then pull the carpeting at the back and fold it forward so you can see the parking brake cables under the rear floor. With a 1/2 inch (13 mm) wrench, collapse one parking brake cable's retainer and pull the entire housing straight away from its bracket. Lift the car, loose the mounting nuts for the rear wheels and then unmount the tire and wheel. After removing the parking brake shoes, pull out the hair pin pinning the parking brake cable to the brake support plate. Pull the parking brake cable out from both the support plate and trailing link hole, then remove the screw and nut jointing the clamp to the body. After that, use the sealing grommet to remove the parking brake cable as it passes through the hole in the floor pan.
