2010 Dodge Avenger Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Oil Filter on 2010 Dodge Avenger?
A: Park the car on a flat spot, run the engine until it gets up to its normal temperature, then turn the engine off. Raise one side of the vehicle on a hoist after removing the oil fill cap. Place the oil tank under the drain plug (step 2) and then use a wrench to unscrew the drain plug so the oil can be drained into the container; check if the drain plug threads are damaged; if so, replace both the drain plug and the gasket. Then, take out the old oil filter and add the new one, pressing down on it until you reach an effort of 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). Install the drain plug and tighten it to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Decrease the jack stand and pour the right oil according to the instructions into the crankcase of the engine, returning the fill cap. Turn on the engine briefly and examine for any leaks and then shut it off to get the oil reading. The specified full-flow, disposable type oil filter seen on all engines should be replaced with a Mopar(R) or similar type. It is necessary to safely get rid of old engine oil, following the regulations where you live.
