2010 Dodge Challenger Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove an Instrument Cluster from the Dashboard on 2010 Dodge Challenger?
A: To start, turn off the supplemental restraint system by pulling the negative cable from the battery after it has been isolated. Give the capacitor about two minutes to empty before proceeding. It's important not to strike or drop the Restraint Controller, as this may harm the sensor that detects crashes. Should you need to change both the Occupant Restraint Controller and the Occupant Classification Module, swap them out one by one and do the Supplemental Restraint Verification test between each replacement. First, remove the negative battery cable and lift up the vehicle. Cut the steering column from the steering coupling, drop the car down, then free the steering column if needed. After that, take out the glove box and the left and right instrument panel silencers. First, undo the screws holding the steering column cover to the instrument panel, excuse the electrical link from the trunk release switch and disconnect the hood release cable from the hood release handle. Disconnect the connectors at the instrument panel and the transmission control module from the wiring and remove the screws holding the instrument panel steering column reinforcement cover to the bracket. Undo the console from the middle floor and separate the antenna coax from the connection to the instrument panel coax extension. Separate the wire harness connectors from the instrument panel and take off the pieces that cover the A-pillar. Separate the wire harness connectors by the pillars and detach the panel end cover so that you can remove the bolts securing the instrument panel side support. Take out the defroster grille, then get rid of the retaining bolts that secure the top of the instrument panel and the bolts under it. After that, bring off the instrument panel assembly from the supports and guide the steering column end out through the dash panel as you remove the instrument panel through the passenger door. Should you need them, you can remove the spring nuts from above the dash.
