2010 Dodge Grand Caravan Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Crankshaft Installed in an Engine on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Smear some engine oil on each main bearing half of the crankshaft before putting them into place in the engine block. Check the position of the crankshaft (11) in the engine block and do the main bearing fitting. Check the main cap bolts for stretching (2) and replace those that are too stretched; you can tell a bolt is stretched by measuring its threads against a scale (2). After removing then reinstalling the main bearing caps (1,2,3,5) and bolts, tighten them to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) plus 1/4 turn and make sure new cross bolt and washer assemblies are used during reassembly. Torque the new cross bolts and washer assemblies (8) to a setting of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Put the connecting rod and bearing caps onto the crankshaft and then install the rear oil seal for the crankshaft. Following this, put in the crankshaft sprocket, followed by the timing chain and camshaft sprocket. Set up the timing chain cover and after that, add the oil pick-up tube and oil pan. After that, install the engine assembly.
