2010 Jeep Liberty Differential Cover Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install a Differential Cover Using Differential Cover Techniques on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
    A: Before installing the differential cover, ensure you clean both the cover and the surface it will fit against. Put a bead of Mopar Axle RTV sealant or its alternative around the differential cover. Should it take more than 3 to 5 minutes to fit the cover, use a clean cloth to wipe and add more RTV just in case there are leaks. After that, put on the differential housing cover and screw in the bolts using a zigzag pattern up to 19-26 Nm (14-19 ft. lbs.). Put the oil filter drain tray as instructed and tighten the nut to 200 in. lbs. Connect the new clamp to the differential cover and put the vent hose in place. Torque all the nuts for the front axle bracket bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) and the front axle bracket cradle nut to the same torque. The last stage is to put on the skid plate.
