Chrysler 300 Control Arm is a component in the vehicles whose main role is to interconnect the front wheel assemblies and the frame so as to enable the suspension system. As seen from the figure, it prevents the lateral movement of the wheels while enabling the vertical movement, which is important in dealing with road surface profile. Normally, the Chrysler 300 has less control arms, they can sometimes act as uppers as well, these use bushings and ball joints to move freely. Through the years of production of the Chrysler 300 several styles of control arms have been used in its production, the simplest one is the A-arm and the most complex of all the wishbone. The A-arm simply links the chassis and the wheel hub to it using one pivot while the wishbone provided more control since it has two inboard bearings to allow for more mobility. - Q: How to install the upper control arm on Chrysler 300?A:Before installing the upper control arm, put it inside the bracket in the shock tower. After that, insert the upper control arm mounting bolts through the bracket, the arm, and the tower, so the flags on the bolts point outward, toward the area around the wheel. When fixing the proper upper control arm, hook up the headlamp leveling sensor link to it. Move the shock assembly so the studs can be added to the shock tower mounting holes. Put the upper ball joint stud into the knuckle's upper hole and then fit the nut over it, tightening the stud by using a fade wrench as you turn the nut with the nut wrench. Tighten the nut on the chain to 47 Nm by turning the torque wrench an extra 90° with the crow foot wrench. Connect the wheel speed sensor cable clip to the brake tube bracket, afterward attach the tire and wheel assembly and ensure the wheel mounting nuts are tightened to 150 Nm on regular models or 190 Nm if there is a police option. Lift the vehicle to where it just touches the curb, then add the nuts onto the upper control arm body mounting bolts, tightening to 75 Nm. Screw the shock assembly onto the shock tower using the three nuts, then tighten them to 27 Nm. Should there be a shock tower cap, adjust it so it is above the right shock mounting nut, then snap it in. When installing the left upper control arm, put in the coolant recovery container; when installing the right upper control arm, mount the IPM.
- Q: How to Remove the Front Lower Control Arm on Chrysler 300?A:To take out the front lower control arm, lift and steady the vehicle first. After that, remove the three nuts holding the wheels and take out the tire and wheel set. Took out the belly pan and the screws that keep the heat shield on and now I am ready to inspect the stabilizer bar. After that, unscrew the bolts that secure the retainer and take out both halves from around the stabilizer bar bushing. Open up the slit in the stabilizer bar and take out the bushing. Put the socket over the special bolt head, then use a wrench to hold the special wheel alignment adjustment bolt in place as you turn the head. Twist off the top nut and glide out the bolt, remembering the direction it faced during the removal. After that, unscrew the bolt and nut holding the lower control arm to the engine cradle and be sure to remember the position of the bolt. Loosen the lower control arm bolt and unscrew the wheel sensor's attachment to the knuckle; when removed, pull the sensor head out from the wheel hub. Release the brake flex hose routing bracket by taking out the wheel speed sensor cable routing clip. Unscrew the nut on the ball joint stud to its opposite end, so it lines up with the stud, to protect against damage in the next phase. Carefully use Special Tool 9360 to separate the stud from the lower control arm without harming the boot on the ball joint. With the nut removed, push the knuckle toward the handlebar end and slide the stud and ball joint out of the lower control arm. Afterward, pull the lower control arm from the engine cradle and remove it from the car.
