How to Properly Remove and Replace a Shock Absorber on Chrysler 300?

Before taking out and replacing the shock absorber, make sure the car is supported. Following that, remove the nuts from the wheel mounts (3) and remove the tire and wheel assembly (1). Place an under-hoist utility jack or jack stand beneath the outer spring link, so that it holds the suspension only enough to keep it from rebounding deeply as you remove the shock absorber mounting bolts. Take off the lower mounting bolt (2) and nut (4) from the shock absorber (1) and then unscrew the upper mounting bolts (2). Following that, disconnect the shock absorber (4).

How to Install a Shock Absorber on Chrysler 300?

To install the front shock absorber on a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, first insert it into the front suspension going in the opposite sequence as removal. It's very important to screw in the nut tightly to stop the ball stud joint from being damaged. Insert the top of the ball joint stud into the hole of the top of the knuckle and attach the ball joint using a nut. Go ahead and tighten the nut to 47 Nm plus a full 90 degrees using a crow foot wrench on the torque wrench. After that, attach the wheel speed sensor cable routing clip to the brake tube bracket. Attach the lower control arm to the shock with the bolt but do not tighten it just yet. Insert the stabilizer link ball joint stem through the front of the shock assembly and add the nut to link the ball joint to the shock assembly, while also tightening it as you hold the ball joint stud in place. Turn on the torque wrench to 128 Nm using a crow foot wrench. Slide the tire and wheel onto the hub, tightening its nuts to 150 Nm when possible and 190 Nm for the police model. Bring down the vehicle and fit the three shock assembly nuts onto the shock tower, make sure they are tightened to 27 Nm. If this process applies to your car, fit the shock tower cap over the mounting nuts and snap onto the shock.
