First take out the 3
Fuel Filler Neck attaching screws, open the fuel filler door and then remove the fuel filler cap to remove the rear cross-member. Lift the car onto jackstands or a type of hoist that comes into contact with the frame and remove the tires from both the rear wheels. For every one of the 4
Lateral Links, take off the nut and bolt, except for the bolt on the left front one which should stay in the crossmember for now. Face both forward attaching bolts away from the fuel tank and pipes while leaving the left rear lateral link bolt facing forward. With that, take out the screw securing the brake tubes to the left stabilizer bar isolator bushing retainer and then remove the 4 bolts holding the stabilizer bar isolator bushing retainers to the frame rails so the stabilizer bar hangs free. Take the
Parking Brake Cable tensioner off both the left and right rear parking brake cables and intermediate parking brake cable. Unhook the clips holding the parking brake cables from the rear suspension crossmember and get rid of the cables themselves. Unfasten the nuts connecting the brake proportioning valves to the lower parts of the crossmember, set the TV under the exhaust
Muffler and remove the hangers for the exhaust resonator and muffler. After you've moved the transmission jack to its lowest point and removed the muffler, unscrew the fuel filler neck bolt from the left frame rail as well as the final crossmember bolts. Ease the crossmember up so you can unattach the bolt on the left front suspension at its link and remove the bolted link and the rear suspension crossmember. To install, position the rear suspension crossmember above the muffler and see that the brake tubes are running properly. Fix the brackets for the rear proportioning valve on each corner of the crossmember and use nuts to anchor them every time. Connect the parking brake cable clip onto the front-left side of the crossmember, put the left forward lateral link back on and then set the mounting bolt without tightening it at this stage. Elevate the crossmember until the frame rails touch it, then place the 2 rear bolts in the crossmember but don't tighten them all the way. Lift the exhaust into the proper position and reattach its three holders. Remove the transmission jack, put on the fuel filler neck attaching screw again and attach the fuel filler neck to the left frame rail. Guide the rear parking brake cables into the positioning holes on the crossmember and fit them with the retainer clips. Reattach the right rear parking brake cable to the intermediate cable, after that install the parking brake tensioners. Screw the 4 bolts for the stabilizer bar isolator bushing retainers into the frame rails. Set the forward bolts to 40 N.m and the rearward bolts to 100 N.m. Tighten the rear suspension crossmember's rear attaching bolts to 100 N.m (75 ft.lbs.), add the brake tube screw and attach the last three lateral links to the crossmember, checking that the bolts are correctly placed. Put the nuts onto the lateral link affixations so they are loose to protect the bushes from breaking too early. Next, install the wheel and tire groups, screw in the wheel studs a half turn, then push them further to the final torque specification of 129 N.m (95 ft.lbs.), drop the vehicle, add all 3 screws to the fuel filler lines, secure the cap and tighten all fore-and-aft arm attaching bolt assemblies to 95 N.m (70 ft.lbs.).
