The Vapor Canister in Chrysler Cirrus vehicles is to function in the evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system meant to minimize the amount of hydrocarbon emissions in the atmosphere. This component is popularly known as the carbon or charcoal canister and it is assigned with the role of holding fuel vapors and it has a feature of a purge valve that is responsible for releasing fuel vapors into the engine in order for them to be burnt as part of the air fuel mixture. Concerning the models of Chrysler Cirrus, they have been various types of the Vapor Canister over the years with some of the vehicles having filters that could be replaced. These include a canister vent solenoid and fuel tank pressure sensor which form part of the diagnostic components in the modern models to help identify leaks and give better results. The main function of the Vapor Canister remains consistent: Perhaps for collecting and reinjecting fuel vapors, and or for containing and managing dangerous emissions in an environmentally-friendly way, so as to make a car more efficient.

Chrysler Cirrus Vapor Canister Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Vapor Canister on Chrysler Cirrus?
    A:
Before handling the Evaporative Emission Control Canister system, press down on the fuel supply and unhook the negative battery cable. Raise the vehicle so it is safe, then drain the fuel tank. Bulge the fuel filler tube out of the fuel tank, separate the fuel line and place a transmission jack below where the fuel tank attaches. Start with the bolts by the passenger side, unscrew them and lift the fuel tank from beneath so that you can take out the purge line and vent line. Take the hoses off of the EVAP canister and disconnect the electrical connector of the Leak Detection Pump (LDP). Take out the push pin that holds the EVAP canister and remove the canister from the car. Before installation, place the EVAP canister onto the bracket and then attach the push pin. Once the hoses and lines are back on, bring the fuel tank onto the transmission stand and hook up the purge and vent lines. After reconnecting the linked wires, fit the tank onto the mount and strap it into place. Put the fuel filler tube back in place and connect the clamp, then let the car down, reattach the battery and pour the fuel into the tank. Use the scan tool to create fuel system pressure and watch for any leaks.
