The Exhaust Manifold of Chrysler Cirrus vehicles involves the process of expelling hot exhaust gases from the engine to the exhaust system to help in efficient performance of the engine as well as a reduction of hazardous emissions. Mounted at different positions of the engine block, the manifold is usually constructed of many tubes for the collection of exhaust gases with each tube relating to one cylinder in the engine. There are also variations in the exhaust manifold of Chrysler Cirrus, some are made of cast iron or stainless, while others are high performance headers, which can improve the flow characteristics and enhances the performance of Cirrus. These headers enhance velocity of the exhaust gas which enhances engine efficiency. The material and design of exhaust manifold also differ, and its condition will have an affect on performance of the vehicle especially if exhaust manifold is spoiled it will lead to asymmetrical air to fuel ratio and chances of health issues from exhaust fumes. Maintenance and proper replacement of Chrysler Cirrus vehicles' exhaust manifold are one of the significant aspects for proper functioning of automobiles.

Chrysler Cirrus Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Exhaust Manifold on Chrysler Cirrus?
    A:
You should first remove the negative battery wire and lift the car using a hoist to handle the exhaust manifold. Start by taking out the complete exhaust system. After that, pull out the rear Engine Mount and transaxle bracket. Take the heat shield off the exhaust manifold next and then disconnect the electrical connector to the oxygen sensor. Take out the retaining screws that attach the exhaust manifold and release the manifold, then throw away the gasket under the manifold. Covering all areas of the manifold and cylinder head with petroleum jelly is necessary before covering them with gaskets. Check the gasket surfaces on the manifold with a straight edge and make sure they are not more than 0.15 mm (0.006 in.) uneven every 300 mm (1 foot) of length. In addition, if there are cracks or distortion on the manifold, replace it. For fitting, install an exhaust manifold gasket without applying sealant, place the exhaust manifold and fasten all of them securely following the specified sequence to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.), until the recommended torque is reached for each one. Replace the heat shield under the exhaust manifold, attach the connector to the oxygen sensor and set up both rear engine engine and traxle brackets. Put the exhaust system back in place, tighten the bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), lower the car and then link the battery's negative terminal again.
