The Chrysler Crossfire Starter is a device that delivers enough mechanical force to crank the engine and start the vehicle by converting battery electricity into rotary motion. A heavy gauge cable connects the battery to the external solenoid which energizes the Starter. And when the ignition key is turned to START, the solenoid also pushes the drive gear into the flywheel or flexplate ring gear. Within the compact enclosure, the armature rotates within the field coils or permanent magnets. Brushes and a commutator feed current into the armature, which, by electromagnetic action, turns the Starter drive. When the engine fire up, it immediately disengages the drive to avoid any damage. The control circuit consists of an ignition switch, a Starter relay, and a safety switch that will prevent engagement unless the automatic transmission is in neutral or the manual transmission clutch is depressed. Some of these units utilise a gear-reduction arrangement where armature torque is routed through reduction gears to improve cranking power. The Chrysler Crossfire Starter construction is planned to fit in with the car's electrical and drivetrain design. When combined, these elements ensure that every Chrysler Crossfire will start quickly and reliably at all times.

Chrysler Crossfire Starter Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to Install a Starter Motor on Chrysler Crossfire?
    A:
Begin your installation by fitting the starter. After that, use the nuts to secure the starter positive cable to the starter wiring connector and tighten the starter positive cable nut to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.) and the starter ground cable nut to 6 Nm (52 in. lbs.). When that part is done, put on the plastic cap for the starter positive cable. String the starter bolts, finishing by tightening them to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.). At this step, place the right side Exhaust Pipe and hook up the right side O2 sensor. After that, attach the lower engine panel and lower the vehicle. The next step is to attach the negative battery cable.
