- Q:How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on Chrysler LHS?A:To service the starter motor, first disconnect the battery negative remote cable from its remote ground post. Lift the vehicle and take out the three bolts joining the starter to the engine. Once done, disconnect the starter's positive feed wire from the battery and pull out the solenoid assembly from the transmission housing, so the starter faces the Connector Positive Assurance wiring connector. Slip a jack stand below the engine and gently raise it to reduce force on the Engine Mount from the left and then remove the three bolts that hold the left engine mount to the engine block. Elevate the engine slightly to help you move the starter assembly, then slide its rear end out from behind the mount between the engine and catalyst. Remove the wire from the posi-lock starter solenoid connector and take out the starter from the car. For uninstalling, flip the process and first remove any corrosion or dirt from the cable and wire terminals before letting go of the solenoid. Right after placing the starter, connect the posi-lock connector so power is sent.
