First, open the hood and take out the negative
Battery Cable before you begin working on the gear shift cable. After that, unhook the cable from the gearshift lever and use pliers to press the holding tabs which will help you to take out the gearshift housing from the transaxle bracket. Following that, pull out the front center console assembly and take away the gearshift cable by pressing the tabs, sliding the mechanism against the gearshift lever, then pulling out the cable. Loose the cable grommet mounting and take out the cable assembly from the car. While installing, secure the grommet and fit the gearshift cable to the car, making sure the retention tabs have clamped the cable to the shift mechanism. Next, slide on the center console and make sure the gearshift cable is fitted to the transaxle bracket so its retention tabs are snapped in position, located underneath the hood. After that, hook the cable to the transaxle manual valve, adjust the gearshift cable and place the battery negative cable back on.
