Whenever the EGR system is not working properly, both the valve and transducer should be replaced, because they work together. First, lift the lid of the air cleaner, unscrew the inlet air temperature sensor from the inlet air duct and then take the negative cable from the car's battery. Kill the ignition by removing the bolts from the
Intake Manifold and also remove the EGR tube bolts at the EGR valve. Remove the EGR transducer bracket from its clipping, then disconnect the tube that delivers vacuum to the solenoid and free the electrical connector from the solenoid. Loosen and remove the two bolts connecting the EGR valve to the cylinder head, then remove the EGR valve and transducer. If the EGR passages need cleaning, take care of that now and change the old gaskets. When you install it, connect the vacuum tube to the solenoid and secure the electrical connector. Secure the EGR transducer into the bracket and snap the bracket together, next put the EGR valve and its new gaskets in loosely and just tighten the fasteners on the EGR tube by hand. Tighten the holding screw of the EGR valve to 22 N.m (195 in. lbs.) and the clamps on the EGR tube to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.). Also, mount the hoses away from the hot parts of the valve and tube and clip them, by hand. Screw back the air cleaner lid and the negative
Battery Cable. Also, attach the inlet air temperature sensor and the makeup air hose.
