In Chrysler Sebring cars, the Intake Valve is used to control the air and fuel mixture in the chamber while improving the vehicle's throughput and the efficiency of the combustion system. These valves must open and close at accurate time intervals, otherwise poor combustion and reduction in power of the engine will be realized. Chrysler Sebring has often availed different Intake Valves over the years and each manufacture has it own style depending on functionality. In case of wear the Intake Valve needs replacing as early as possible to avoid further expenses on repairs and possible failure of the engine. Another factor that is associated with the replacement process is that a number of processes are undergone in order to replace the Intake Valve and this includes the use of particular utensils to put the new Intake Valve in its rightful position as well as properly make it function in the premier way possible.

Chrysler Sebring Intake Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Should Exhaust Valves and Intake Valves Be Maintained and When Should They Be Replaced on Chrysler Sebring?
    A:
All valves must be cleaned properly and you should get rid of any that are burned, warped or cracked.
  • Q: How Do Exhaust Valves and Intake Valves Differ in Specifications and Refacing Procedures on Chrysler Sebring?
    A:
44.5 to 45 degrees is the face angle of the intake and exhaust valves and the face angle of the valve seats is 45 to 45.5 degrees. After handling the valves, check the extra amount you have left. To correctly hole your stones, use only the guide pilot size that is designed for your valve seats. Mark any issues in the concentricity of the valve seat using a dial indicator and stop if the total runout is over 0.051 mm (0.002 inch). Apply Prussian blue to the valve seat and if it appears on the center of the valve face, contact is satisfactory. Raise the valve seat with a 65 degree stone if the marks go on the lower edge and lower the seat with a 15 degree stone if they transfer to the upper edge. If the angle and width of the seat remain correct, it's possible to refinish worn seats, otherwise the cylinder head is replaced. Intake seats should be 1 to 1.5 mm (0.0394 to 0.0591 inch) in width and exhaust seats should be 1.25 to 1.75 mm (0.049 to 0.069 inch) wide. After refacing, make sure to inspect the valve spring installed height. Dip the coat the valve stems in clean engine oil and fit them into the cylinder head. After refacing valves or seats, test tip height of both valves, the intake at 47.59 mm (1.8737 inch) or less and the exhaust at 49.14 mm (1.9347 inch) or less; if higher, grind the valve stem with a radius file until your test reads correct height. For each valve stem, put the valve seal/spring seat assembly over the guides and check that the garter spring is in place around the seal's top. Lift the valve springs and the retainer onto the spring seat, compress the valve spring with a spring compressor and release the compressor locks. Rank the height between the spring seat's top and the spring retainer's bottom; if it is higher than 38.75 mm (1.5256 inch), put in a 0.762 mm (0.030 inch) spacer beneath the valve spring seat to reduce the height.
