How to Install a Shock Absorber in the Suspension Strut Assembly on Chrysler Sebring?

Put the strut assembly into the strut tower by having the top three studs lined up with the holes in the tower and then tighten the three mounting nuts to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). The strut clevis-to-knuckle bolts are serrated and shouldn't move; for this reason, make sure to secure the bolts before inserting the nuts. After that, put the lower portion of the strut assembly directly above the knuckle upper end, matching up the mounting holes and put in the bolts together with the nuts, tightening them to 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.) as you hold them in place. Join the stabilizer bar link to the strut and tighten the nut to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) while the bar link's stud does not move. Fixed the flex hose routing bracket to the strut and tightened the screw to 13 Nm (120 in. lbs.). After that, fit the wheel and tire and tighten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and then put the car back on the ground.

How to Remove and Replace a Shock Absorber on Chrysler Sebring?

First, bring the lower shock assembly just above the lower control arm until it clears the body, then lift it into its place in the body bracket. After that, connect mounting bolt 1 and nut 4 to join the shock assembly 2 to the lower control arm 3, but don't tighten them yet. Attach trim cover 5 to the bottom of lower control arm 3, install the entire wheel and tire assembly 1 and firmly secure with wheel mounting nuts 3 of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Position the car on the lowest height and set the nut 1 on each of the bolts, connecting the shock assembly 2 to the body bracket 3. Tighten the nuts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Rotate the luggage compartment carpet in place if necessary, set the car on an alignment rack or drive-on lift and raise it where necessary to reach the shock mounting bolt and nut below. After that, finish the assembly by tightening the lower mounting bolt nut 4 to 99 Nm (73 ft. lbs.).
