Begin your service or repair of the drive belt by lifting the vehicle on a hoist and getting rid of the drive belt shield. Avoid permitting the drive
Belt Tensioner to retract immediately, because doing so could cause harm or damage. With the wrench on the tensioner's lug, rotate the tensioner clockwise to reduce belt pressure, then lift the belt up and off the pulley. Position the tensioner so that it returns to its original, loose place once you've taken it off. For the
Power Steering Pump, first remove the locking nuts (D) and (F) at the top of the car and below, loosen the pivot bolt (E) and the adjusting bolt (G) enough so the belt can be taken out. Install the generator and air conditioning belt on all pulleys, except for the
Crankshaft and then use the tensioner to place the belt onto the crankshaft before slowly releasing it. Check that the belt is around all the pulleys and in proper working position before installing the shield and lowering the car. Position the belt so it crosses both the crankshaft and power steering pump pulleys, but not too tightly on them, tighten bolts D, E and F to begin with and use the adjustment bolt G to reach the ideal tension. Then, tighten nuts (D) and (F) to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and the pivot bolt (E) to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
