First, get rid of the Front Wiper Unit and lift the hood to service and repair the hood hinge. With a grease pencil or other similar tool, mark where each bolt and hinge should be installed. Take out the pivot bolt from the hood hinge's body side and prop up the hood with an appropriate device. After that, unbolt the body half of the hood hinge from the front fender flange and take the whole hinge out of the car. If you want, give the new hinge a coat of paint before you put it on. Hold up the body of the hood half of the hood hinge and insert the bolts into the front fender, tighten them to 8 N.m (70 in.lbs.) torque. Fit the pivot bolt into the body's side of the hood hinge and turn it until the torque reaches 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Place the Front Wiper Unit back in position, line up all the marks and screw in the bolts. Both ends of the hood should be positioned 4 mm (0.160 in.) away from the fenders and sit perfectly smooth with the fender's top surface. Once the hood hinge height is shown to be correct, tighten the bolts to 13.5 N.m (10 ft.lbs.) after removing the shims.
