  Start by placing the hoist arm on a block of wood on the sill with the body and placing the remaining arms at each corner, before you raise the vehicle up until it is comfortable to work with. Then, put an under-hoist utility jack or transmission jack under the rear axle near where you'll be replacing the bushings, making sure the jack pad only touches the axle. If the lower bolt for the shock absorber is stiff, lower the support jack so the bolt can be removed. After that, remove the bolts holding the leaf spring front mounting bracket to the body. By using the jack, gently drop the rear axle down to a point where the rear spring's forward end is hanging and maybe use a wooden block to hold the spring while you tackle the bolt at the front. Take out the forward pivot bolt and the mounting bracket and the machine the tabs on the bushing so they are straight. Use the Place Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8459, secure the Remover Plate on the leaf spring and bushing, lock in place with the Set Screw and keep it tight with the nut to remove the bushing. After installing the new bushing in the left eye of the leaf spring by hand, slide the Remover/Installer back in with the bushing, then put the Installer Plate (8459-3) on and tighten the nut until the bushing and spring eye are about 1 mm apart without the bushing's flange sitting against the spring eye. Unclip the Remover/Installer, use the retainer tabs to push against the spring eye, put the spring mounting bracket over the spring eye and run the bolt from the outboard side through the new spring mounting bracket. Insert the nut onto the pivot bolt and twist it on just a little, not fully yet. Jack up your vehicle until the forward mounting bracket can be positioned against the body. Place a drift punch inside to line them up if you need to. Then install the bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) torque. Get the jack just right so the lower end of the shock absorber lines up with the axle housing threads and then put in the mounting bolt just enough to hold the shock absorber in place. Place the vehicle low, remove the hoist arms and block of wood and lastly, tighten the spring front pivot bolt to 156 Nm (115 ft. lbs.) and the lower shock absorber mounting bolt to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
