When replacing the spark plugs and spark plug cables, it is imperative to correctly route the plug wires and place them in the right retainers. Incorrect routing may cause ignition noise, possible cross ignition of the spark plugs and short-circuits to ground. Using a decent socket that has a foam insert, spray compressed air in the spark plug hole and the area adjacent to the spark plug before removing it. Inspect the spark plug's condition and start the new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross threading. Tighten the spark plug to 17.5 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) torque. Finally, connect the spark plug cables over the spark plugs. You must hear and feel a click as it attaches properly.
