Dodge Avenger Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Wheel Bearing on Dodge Avenger?
    A:
For all-wheel-drive wheel bearing service and repair, place the hub and bearing over the axle half shaft and attach it to the brake support plate and trailing link. Tighten the four bolts connecting the hub and bearing to the knuckle to a torque of 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.). Clip the wheel speed sensor head against the retainer on the rear of the hub and bearing. Push the brake rotor between the Parking Brake Shoes and harbor it onto the bearing and hub. Turn the caliper down over the brake rotor and the lower half of the caliper adapter. Insert the disc Brake Caliper lower guide pin bolt and tighten it so that it shows 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.) on your torque wrench. Clean any debris from the threads on the outer C/V joint of the half shaft and then assemble and tighten the washer and hub nut on the end. While applying the brakes to prevent the hub from rotating, tighten the hub nut to 245 Nm (181 ft. lbs.). Push the cotter pin through the nut with the half shaft and while you tighten the nut, check that the notches in the nut match the hole in the shaft without loosening. Curl the cotter pin ends next to the lock nut and tighten them. Fit the tire and wheel system on and tighten the wheel mounting nuts with 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) of force, before lowering the vehicle. If the brake pedal is firm after pumping it several times, you can move your vehicle.
