Dodge Avenger Brake Rotor Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to Remove and Replace the Rear Brake Rotor on Dodge Avenger?
    A:
Before removing the rear brake rotor, raise and support the vehicle first. Following this, take out the wheel mounting nuts and replace the tire and wheel assembly forward. If the pads are too tight against the rotor, it may be important to back out the caliper piston a little to give enough room for caliper removal from the knuckle. To do this without damaging the piston, place your hands on the inboard side of the caliper, grip it firmly and slowly push it outwards together with the guide pins as you avoid contact with the piston. After that, remove the disc Brake Caliper lower guide pin bolt. Do not let the caliper move up so far that you strain or break the flexible hose. To make removing the rotor possible, flip the caliper so the upper guide pin bolt acts as a hinge and hold the caliper up with wire or a bungee cord. Afterward, move the brake rotor away from the hub and bearing and take it out.
  • Q:
How to Remove and Replace a Front Brake Rotor on Dodge Avenger?
    A:
Raise and support the vehicle before you take out and put in a new front brake rotor. Removal of the wheel mounting nuts comes before taking out the tire and wheel as a set. At times, you'll have to pull the inboard side of the caliper slightly to give the pads and rotor enough room to remove the caliper from the knuckle; avoid pressing hard on the piston to keep it safe. After that, take out the two bolts that connect the disc Brake Caliper and adapter bracket to the Steering Knuckle. Disconnect the disc brake caliper and adapter bracket from the knuckle and rotor together and then hang the assembly out of your way so the brake hose doesn't get stretched too much. After that, take the brake rotor off its place on the hub and bearing.
