You should not use petroleum greases on your muffler or exhaust pipe isolators; use a mix of dishwashing liquid and water instead. After that, take off the ground strap found at the rear of the I-Pipe/Muffler assembly. Take off the band clamp and the support isolators at the I-Pipe/Muffler assembly and then remove the assembly from the catalytic converter. Lastly, clean the ends of all the pipes and the muffler so everything plugs in correctly and throw out any worn or broken isolators, clamps, supports and attaching parts.

From the front, place each component where it should go and check that it is clear of underbody parts, then make sure the clamp tightens to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Make sure the band clamps aren't too tight, because this may cause the clamp band to stretch and not hold as well, meaning it has to be swapped out. Open the nut, then pry back the ends of the old clamp to break the spot weld and continue to file or grind them down until the metal is even on the pipe surface. Next, attach the exhaust system ground strap, turn the engine on and look for any leaks, making the necessary repairs. Make sure the exhaust system does not interfere with any panels by contacting them and adjust anything that you find wrong.
