Before installing a new shifter, use a trim stick to part the shift knob lower trim from the knob. Take the shift knob out of the shaft, then get rid of the lower trim. After that, lower the trim onto the new shifter shaft, then slide the shift knob onto that and put the trim back onto the shift knob. Place the shifter assembly on top of the shifter assembly studs in the floor pan and use nuts to lock it in place by tightening them to 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.). After putting the lever in PARK, loosen the screw found on the gear
Shift Cable. fasten the gearshift cable on top of the shift lever pin. Link the wiring harness connectors with the shifter assembly, make sure the shift lever is in PARK and check the park sprag by moving the vehicle back and forth. Rotate the adjustment screw a total of 7 Nm (65 in.lbs.) and confirm that the shifter, park lock and BTSI are working properly. After the shift lever assembly and cables are installed, slot back the console parts that were removed.
